Water Flash Photography: The drainspout at Albertson's

All > "Art" > Photography > Water Flash Photography: The drainspout at Albertson's by natetrue
I was heading to Albertson's to buy some garlic bread when I happened upon this downspout gushing water onto the street. I just couldn't resist snapping a few flash photos. I love freezing water in time like this!
Ignore the completely disgusting trail of slime on the wall...
The flash lasts a mere instant - short enough to freeze the drops as they explode onto the asphalt.
Use the 'full' link to see this picture in full detail, with all the drops spraying everywhere!
It's so weird what shapes the water can take.

I don't know what you’re talking about in regards to the green slime. If anything I think that it only adds to the picture. First, look at the contrast between the beauty and seeming clarity of the water. It’s caught as if it were blown glass, or in some shots crystal. Second, think about what you can't see in the water that is being deposited on that wall. Talk about illusions. Third, look at green in the manner of it being life. The water is bringing something to that concrete surface that is giving nourishment. To me that's the coolest part. The slime trail is definitely my favorite picture of the bunch. Incredible capture.

I think I see what you mean, how the slime adds contrast to the beautiful, clean form of the frozen water. That said I'm no closer to returning to the site of said slime and rubbing my face on it.

I agree that slime is pretty cool, and it sorta gives a history of where moisture has most frequently been here (only where the slime is) but My favorite part of theis set is looking at the forms of the water. The last photo looks like the front of a bucking bull to me, now I would challenge myself to see something NEW in the SAME water form, and also look for shapes in the other ones (like looking for stuff in clouds)

Well if the challenge is extended to anyone else. I think that the first picture is a clear dipiction of what a frog would look like if it were jumping out of the drain. Its head to the right and legs extended back toward the drain.
