MSG (Monosodium glutamate) - sure it's a delicious and harmless food additive, but did you know it grows crystals too?

I grew this elegant crystal wad over the course of a couple of weeks - the slower they grow the bigger they end up. This was a gem among a lot of tiny needles that had grown in the same container.

If you can see 3d stereo photos, this is the one to see. I only regret that my camera's macro mode is a shade too fuzzy to really work out the detail.

I'm working on growing some bigger crystals by slowing the growth rate down.
